Merz b. Schwanen stands for authentic manufacturing processes and workmanship with all their subtle details. With the help of a traditional knitwear manufacturer, based in the Swabian Alps, Peter Plotnicki revived the old way of crafting clothes. Driven by his passion for traditional fabrication processes, his team created a collection of t-shirts and button border shirts ("henleys") solely made by circular knitting machines like they were used well into to the golden fifties. These authentic machines leave their individual trait on each fabric they produce, which ultimately results in the individuality of every single garment: an irregular weaving pattern without a side seam. Another unique characteristic of the collection are the woven labels: they are made with a hand-made punch card on historical looms dating back to the 19th century.
