A 15oz regular straight model representative of Samurai Jeans. This model has a little room around the waist, and gentle taper down to the hem. With a vintage-inspired feel, the silhouette strikes that perfect balance between being too thick or too thin. Samurai Jeans used their 15oz Otokogi denim for these, taking the slubby #6 cotton thread, leaving the little bits of cotton waste in the mix, and pushing the vintage looms to the limit. This gives these jeans a rough look and texture, while also allowing for those much-loved high contrast fades. The exclusive leather patch used here is based on the classic Samurai patch and features the warriors Musashi and Kojiro, the moon, pine trees, the Shinto “torii” gate, and Mt. Fuji, while the two seagulls on this patch show that these are the successor to the S0510XX model. Other details include an exclusive flasher, the iron sunrise buttons, copper coin-shaped rivets, the SAMURAI woven label, and the ‘Impermanence’ jaquard slake.
For the sewing, Samurai Jeans stuck mainly to two colors: banana yellow and golden brown, with the stitch count, needle count, and stitch width all varied according to each part of the jeans to bump these up to the next level of attention to detail. The arcs on the back pockets represent seagulls in flight, done in dark blue “Kagemusha” (or Shadow Warrior) stitching, the stitching pattern appearing over time as the colors fade.
