A product of rationing during World War II, the 1944 501® jeans don't have a lot of the detailing that made them popular in the early days - like a multitude of rivets and a cinched adjuster - but which would now be considered extra. True to the era, these 1944 501® jean are constructed in a more pared-back way, with laurel leaf design on the buttons and printed arcuate stitching on the back pockets. A reproduction of a pair of jeans from 1944. During World War II, the United States government informed all clothing manufacturers that they had to remove a certain amount of metal, fabric and thread from their garments to conserve raw materials for the war effort. To abide with the rules, this garment was originally made without the watch pocket rivets, crotch rivet, and the back waist cinch.
