3sixteen x Gloverall Duffel Coat Black/Navy Wool

This fall 3sixteen teamed up with the famed British outerwear manufacturer Gloverall. For those of you who’ve been following along with 3sixteen for some time now, you might remember that the Fall/Winter 2009 collection included a duffel coat that was modeled after the kind that Gloverall has been making since the 1950’s. Now the time is to create their own version for 2022.
The 3sixteen x Gloverall Duffel Coat is built off the "Monty fit" and contains design details that are right in line with standard issue coats for the British Navy that began to make their way into civilian wear post-WW2. It features a beautiful heavyweight Italian wool blend for the body coupled with a boxy, roomy fit that makes for the perfect layering piece - it sits nicely over Type 3s denim jackets, hoodies, vests and even lightweight down outerwear. The large front pockets are a trademark design detail, as are the rope fastenings and wooden toggles - but in typical 3sixteen fashion, 3sixteen commissioned blacked-out versions for a cleaner look. The body of the coat is unlined but the sleeves have a satin lining. Hood snaps, throat latches and wrist straps were removed to give the coat an overall cleaner look. Additional design details include a diamond-quilted shoulder cape, a detail that 3sixteen included on the original 2009 version, as well as paneled navy wool contrasts on the pockets and the back panel. This contrast is pretty discreet when worn but becomes more prominent when you’re looking at it up close or in direct sunlight.
